State Budget Deal Tied To Vote On University Bonding Issue Azcentralcom

AZCentral.com-Gov. Doug Ducey and Republican leaders in the Legislature have reached a tentative budget deal, seemingly breaking weeks of deadlock over the state spending plan.

The proposed $9.6 billion deal would include 2 percent teacher raises Ducey called for in January, but phase them in over two years instead of the five years the governor proposed. Many of Ducey's other K-12 education ideas are also included in the budget — including a $38 million-a-year, results-based pay proposal and an early-literacy program.
