Native American couple works on trying to preserve culture

ELOY--  In 1990 President George H.W. Bush designated the month of November as “National American Indian Heritage Month.”

Since then similar proclamations have been made each year. What originally started as an effort to gain a single day of recognition resulted in a whole month of recognition and hopes of raising awareness.

Royce Manuel and Debbie Nez-Manuel are part of the AZ Speaks program with Arizona Humanities and travel all over the state informing people of their heritage.
