The Pinal County Board of Supervisors will add two members with elections this year to become a five-person board, but District 1 continues to cover a large part of eastern Pinal and much of Florence, Eloy and Coolidge.
In the race to represent District 1 on the board, incumbent Democrat Pete Rios of Dudleyville is being challenged by Democrat Mary Bateman-Espinoza of Coolidge, independent Alicia Bristow of Oracle and two Republicans, Gem Gary Cox of Florence and Jim Montaño of Oracle.
