by Mary Jo Pitzl and Philip Haldiman -
The state Republican and Democratic parties elected new chairmen on Saturday.
Tom Morrissey won the GOP's top spot, and Andrei Cherny is his Democratic counterpart.
Both chairmen will serve two-year terms.
The race for the next state Republican Party chairman has expanded and contracted over the past few months, revolving around who is the truer conservative and who is best positioned to continue GOP gains in the state Legislature and Congress in 2012.
